If there is one thing I have learned in my life as a video game player, it is that no matter how good a system is, a newer and better will eventually come out. I remember the days of my Atari and playing classics such as Space Invaders Missile Command. I remember thinking that was the best thing ever.
Then a few years later, Atari released its next gen console. I never got one, but I had a friend who did, and I tell you the thing was sweet. Since that time I have seen video game systems come and go. Nintendo, Sega, Playstation, Xbox, all of them have come and gone.
True more often than not it is to be replaced by a next gen system (i.e. Nintendo Wii, PS3, Xbox 360 etc.), but the basic fact that they will be replaced is as certain as the fact that I will be older tomorrow. The nice thing is that I don’t have a big problem with this.
The reason I don’t is because each time a new system comes out, the promise of newer graphics and new games is bright. One of the other reasons I look forward to a new system coming out is that means I can speculate on what the next big games will be.

For instance lets look at some ideas about what will be the Playstaion 3 top games of the future. Will old classics such as the Gran Turismo franchise continue to make the jump and improve? Will Grand Theft Auto remain on the edge of edgy style games? What will be the next innovation similar to Guitar Hero?
All of these questions deserve thought, and while eventually as the PS3 is phased out and thus the questions answered, we can take some good guesses right now. I am pretty positive Square Soft will come out with a spectacular Final Fantasy release that will be another piece of video game lore (hell they may just do it by re releasing VII). I also think the GTA franchise will continue to provide us with years of games we hope our parents never catch us playing.
I predict that another big innovation will give us a game that blows even the immense rock band away, and finally I think PS3 will come out with a bigger FPS than Halo. While I could go on for a while, my main purpose was to give people some things to think about. Enjoy.
