I have to admit that doing a review on Mass Effect seems to be a bit daunting. I mean the game is massive and the nature of a review is to give you as much information as possible to help you make your own decision about buying the game. Yet just a simple I liked it or didn’t like it isn’t good enough for this.

People want to know why I liked it, or why I didn’t like it. Most games that are pretty simple, I touch a bit on what the game is about, comment on graphics and gameplay and then add in some fluff to make the whole

thing worth reading. Unfortunately Mass Effect is a huge game that will suck out your very soul if you are not careful.

I guess the best place to start is a general overview of this wonderful sci fi RPG. The best part about this game is that it is a kick ass Sci Fi RPG that doesn’t have anything to do with Star Wars. It exists in its own universe, gives you its very own (and engrossing) story, and still manages to come through with the solid RPG elements of Character Class, combat, and characters that make us happy to spend 99.99.99 hours playing a game.

Not only is the game well made (other than maybe the complete lack of useful tutorials) but it is gorgeous. While it seems that every game that comes out lately has great graphics, this one puts those great graphics to great use and creates a very immersive game play situation.

If there is one complaint (and this is a minor one) its that at times I felt a bit lost about how to use the control. Most of this just comes from getting used to a new game though and once you get the navigation of the various menus down, you hardly notice.

In my opinion this is one of the best games to come out for the 360 and may be able to stand up to the upcoming releases of Fallout 3 and Final Fantasy XIII. All in all I give this game a rating of 9.5, really not sure why I am not going for a full 10 out 10, but hey it’s the mood I am in I guess.
